Audience Research

Our audience are teenagers aged 16+. We are around the same age as our audience and our friends are as well. The teenage audience are the biggest target market for cinema today, as they have more free time than anyone in other age groups and see the social benefits of going to the cinema with friends . The majority of teenagers don't work 9-5, 5 days a week so they always have time to go to the cinema especially with certain promotional deals put on by companies such as the Orange mobile tariff with Orange wednesdays. We think 16+ is the perfect age for our target  market as they are aware of the nature of murder and knife crime today. In London knife crime is an issue involving teenagers and gangs. Teenagers are mature enough to understand the meaning of the film how ever children wouldn't and could find the film upsetting.

Soundtrack Research

Today we looked at soundtracks for opening sequences and sound effects that we could possibly use in our opening sequence. We found some good sequences where we could take ideas from.

Editing

We have almost finished our editing, all we have to do now is re-film some of our scenes for some close ups. In the lesson today a group of french media students came into our class and had a look at our sequence when we had put the main scenes in. The students seemed shocked at our fight scene and the forensics scene which shows that we achieved the tension of the genre that we were going for. Tres bien!

Monologue

We have two alternatives for a monologue that the detective will speak over the opening sequence.

1. This is my town, I've lived here all my life, the streets have been good to me, and the people better, so I repay them in sweat and tears keeping them safe.... but even I cant be everywhere at once, its only a matter of time until it's one of my own that gets hurt, then its personal, screw the law, I'm out for revenge. Confucious once wrote that 'before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves'. I had better get digging then.

2. I was born in this town, I know the streets and their seedy underbelly, I do my best to police them and protect the few good people still left in thus hole.... but even I can't be everywhere at once. I lost my sense of humour and sensitivity years ago, they only slowed me down, made me weak.......... I didn't know all of those lost feeling were about to all come rushing back to me. Filming- 2

As some of our shots didn't have great lighting we had to re- shoot. We went to the same location but it was lighter outside when we did it. Now we have better shots and the lighting is much better.

Behind the scenes- Filming day 2

This is a picture from behind the scenes when we were
re- shooting our shots today.

Shooting Schedule

This is the shooting schedule which we will amd have followed in order to film our opening sequence. This has helped by making sure we know what we are doing and where we are filming.

Behind The Scenes Footage

This is the footage which we took from behind the scenes of filming our opening sequence.

Filming - 1

We filmed the first part of our opening sequence in the alley way and the surrounding street and we were initially quite happy with it but when reviewing the footage, we decided that there wasnt enough light for the audience to understand what is going on so we're going to re-film most of it using more lights and some more camera angles. I think that doing this will help gain our group higher marks.

Audience Research

This is our audience research which we filmed. We asked male and females questions. We made sure they were above the age of 16 before we filmed them as that is who we are targeting our movie at.

Planning- Planning 3

What we will do this week:
This week we will be working on the risk assessment and the shooting schedule. The risk assessment will show all the problems that could occur when filming the opening sequence in our location. The shooting schedule will be a detailed schedule of when we will film the opening sequence.
This week we will also be finishing off the script and making sure we know what will be taking place step by step in the opening sequence. This way when it comes to filming there will be no problems.

Setting

When deciding on what setting we should use we came to the decision that it should be an urban setting with lots of houses as well as a place that wont have many people walking into our shot and with enough light to cast shadows for the antagonist to hide in.
I feel that the alley way (top left) is ideal for our story as it is long, closed off and provides some good lighting at one end when dark. The other pictures show the road at the end of the alley way, this road is quite long and provides lots of places to set up some great shots on either side of the road. The road also  has a lot of dark driveways that the antagonist could use to hide in. I also like this road as it provides good lighting when dark as you can see that there are a lot of street lamps.
