We are in class editing our opening sequence. Not a lot more to do, we are all working together well and making a good team!

Green Screen

Today we started putting together the green screen clips which are going to be edited and placed in the opening sequence next lesson. We used the green screen to do a slow motion drop of a cup with a black background to end the opening sequence as the clip will fade to black then fade into the title of our sequence.

Title Of Film - Graves

We have come to the decision that we are going to call our film 'Graves' . We have chose this name as the name is relevent to the theme of our film and plot. This is because every murder crime always leads to a grave sooner or later. The name is relevent to our film and meaningful, the name is not too long and dosent give to much away. Thrilling detective programmes and movies such as Bones, Criminal Minds, Taken etc all have short and effective names, this will be the same for our film.

Knife Crime In The Uk

One of our films themes is knife crime. If we were to continue to make our film we would want to include the effects and consequences of knife crime as the victim of the crime is killed by being stabbed. We would raise awareness about knife crime by showing the impacts of it and hopefully it would take an impact on the audience.

Noel Clarke, a film director has directed a few films that have raised the awareness of knife crime and street violence. He has done this through films such as kidulthood, adulthood and shanked. These thrilling crime dramas are the same genre as our film and share the same target audience. Noel Clarke said 'The films are not glamourising street violence and kfife crime, they are showing the audience how it really is and raising awareness of knife crime'.

Knife crime is a huge issue in the UK, on average a knife is used to hurt or mug somebody every 10 minutes. 1 in 5 muggers now use a knife when mugging people and knife related incident has doubled since 2007.

Raising awareness of knife crime in our film would increase the impact on our audeince and would expand the traget audience, attracting older ages.

Editing - Credits

The credits have now been edited into our opening sequence using the Title tool in Adobe Premier, everyone that played a part in the production of our opening sequence has been mentioned (e.g. extra actors such as Ali Sadique). The title has also been added to the end of the sequence, the font of the title is similar to that of the font used for the credits in order to keep with the same style.

Editing update

Now that the new macs are here and set up, we have managed to re-edit the group's opening sequence  using Adobe premier, which isnt that different from Final cut. We are happy with the sequence and feel that it is better than before with the colour correction being better on the pickups we did.  There is still alot to do with the sequence. We still need to finish the credits and touch up the soundtrack that Chloe and Aaron made so that it fits and also finish the monologue that my character will say over the sequence but at least the editing is mostly done, with exception to the green screen scene, but its looking better.
